Get in where you fit in – A guide to plus size shopping

Recently I watched a short video where plus-sized women all tried on the same item of clothing that was supposed to be their size according to their measurements. What I found interesting about this video is that none of the clothes fit them. They were either to big, to small, or just fit weird which made me say out loud to myself “OMG, I have the same struggle”!!

As a full-figured women I actually run into several problems. My measurements are: Bust 42, Waist 38 and Hips, 43 which breaks down to a size 14 for me in some stores and a 16 in others. This has become a huge problem for me when it comes to shopping. I can’t just run into the store and grab something and take it directly to the register. Oh no… I must take the time to take all of the items to the dressing room and try them on. Has anyone tried that with a 3-year-old? Not fun…uh-uh, nope. On top of that, my frugal mind starts playing tricks on me and I start looking at price tags. Ladies.. and some fellas… the struggle is real.

I’m sure that I am not the only voluptuous beauty that experiences these issues when shopping. So I’ve put together 3 very helpful tips that I rely heavily on.

3 tips to Plus Size shopping

1. Shopping online can sometimes be tragic. Yes, it’s cheap and you may even get lucky and get a deal that includes free shipping. But, if this is a store that you have never shopped at before and have no clue how the clothes fit DO NOT ADD IT TO YOUR CART!! It will cost you more in the long run with having to ship it back because it doesn’t fit, not to mention the frustration of waiting on a package to come and then not being able to fit what’s in it!

2. Do not sacrifice quality to save a penny. I don’t know about you guys but my thighs rub together (yes I put myself out there). For me, buying cheap jeans or any type of pants for that matter is not an option. After wearing them twice, the inner thigh has holes. Don’t judge me because I know I am not the only one!!

3. Leave those cute little kids at home. I know this is a hard one for some moms because it is for me, but just think about how easy it will be and how you can take your time to make sure that the clothes actually fit to your liking.
