Product Review: Urban Decay’s Smoked Palette

There is a reason why I’m referred to as the “Frugal Fashionista”. I’m a serious bargain shopper and when I catch a good sale on something, I love to shout it from the rooftops. Black Friday offered some pretty good deals this year, but one of my favorites is the Urban Decay Smoked palette that I got for… wait for it… $20.00 (valued at $49)!!! As a newbie in the Makeup Artist game, it is very important that I build a kit that is of quality products so that I can give the best face beatings possible. Urban Decay is considered to be the crème de la crème of cosmetics so for me it’s a must have!!

When I received the email on Black Friday that the Smoked palette was $20, I immediately added it to my cart for purchase. The palette is not new at and I’m more than positive that the huge price drop means that it’s being discontinued. But who cares?? It’s Urban Decay and it was $20! The 10 colors are very pigmented as I anticipated, the texture literally feels like butter and the application is flawless with very minimal fall out (and I mean super minimal). The palette comes accompanied with a full sized 24/7 Glide on Eye Pencil in “Perversion” which is the blackest of black (a $20 value in itself), a mini size of Urban Decay’s infamous Eyeshadow Primer Potion, and beautifully illustrated step-by-step guide with 12 different smoky eye looks! Again, I repeat that this was all $20!!

  • Barlust: Shimmery medium brown with a reddish undertone

What I love most about this palette (outside of how much I paid for it) is the fact that it allows you to smoke out your eye in different colors that most people wouldn’t even think about. The palette allows you to step out of your comfort zone and dabble into the dramatics using dark bold colors. Check out this smoky eye that I created using “Rockstar” and “Loaded”!!
